This weeks top ten is a good one! I had lots of fun with it. - Top 10 bookish confessions (in no particular order)

1. I judge authors on twitter and facebook. I get it, you're excited that you book is published, but do you have to re-tweet and post only the reviews where people put you on a throne? What about the ones who only just liked the book. I know, it's bad that I do this, but I've unfollowed a certain author because of this (Needless to say, she didn't re-tweet my review!)

2. Sometimes I read the bottom of the page first. This is terrible and I HATE that I do it, but my eyes just skim to the bottom.

3. I love the library but I can never get books back before they charge me late fees. So I rarely borrow.

4. I don't dog ear my books. Unless it's a used one I bought somewhere that is already dog eared. (and man does it feel nice to dog ear, I feel like I'm breaking the law!)

5. I need my books to match on my shelf. This whole thing with last books in a series not matching the first ones is terrible. And I refuse to buy it if it doesn't match. Which then puts me in a pickle because I don't have the complete series. Stick with the hardcover being to same and design new (but matching) covers for paperback.

6. I love hardcover books. Sometimes I prefer them to paperback. They're heavy, big and sometimes fall on my face when I'm reading in bed, but I can't help it.

7. I enjoy books more if the authors are nice. I guess this ties in with #1, but I love nice, down-to-earth writers and your books will appeal to me more. For example, Kelley Armstrong, I've talked to her through email (and her publicist, whom is also so nice!). My hubby just met Kelley on the weekend and got a signed book for me, and he was so impressed with her kindness! Marina Cohen, author of Mind Gap is a lovely lady too!

8. I got invited to a friends house the other day, I said sorry, I've got plans. My plans? Get home and read. Enough said.

9. Someone asked me how many books were in the Harry Potter series, and I *GASP* couldn't remember if there were 7 or 8. This is embarrassing because I'm a die-hard Potter fan. Just forget I even mentioned this one.

10. I hoard books. Don't judge, we all do. I can't get rid of them, even if I didn't ever read it, or if I know I will not re-read it, I keep it.

This weeks top 10 -  Top Ten Books I'd Like To See Made Into a Movie

Seriosuly, each book that I read and really enjoy, at one point I say they should make it a movie. I want the characters to come to life and be on the big screen. Though not always is it a good thing and sometimes the movies aren't worth it at all. So I picked a few of my favourite ones, and a few that I cannot wait until they do hit the big screen.

In no particular order:

1. Divergent by Veronica Roth - though they would need a HUGE budget to make this movie as good and wonderful as the book

2. Wither by Lauren DeStefano - this would be interesting to watch instead of read

3. The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks - I love Nicholas Sparks movies and this is my fave book of his

4. Across The Universe by Beth Revis - again, there would be budget issues I'd imagine

5. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin - Noah Shaw!

6. The Near Witch - this would make one of those eerie kind of movies we all love to watch

7. Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel - human interaction with zombies who don't want to eat her brains? Yes please!

8. Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins - for obvious reasons!

9. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins - again, obviously

(I know, there's only 9 there....had to leave my options open!)

I was trying to narrow my list to something more specific, like 2012 YA, but I'm just going to go with top ten YA covers. Too hard to narrow it more than that.

*For OBVIOUS reasons!

5. Donalds Day In The Kitchen - my absolute favourite book growing up as a child

6. The Outsiders - my favourite book as a teenager (This particular copy is from my grandparents!)

7. Signed copy of Freefall **

8. Signed copy of Losing Faith **

9. Signed copy of Haunted **

10. Signed copy of Echoes From The Other Land **

**Signed copies are harder to replace, so that's why I chose these ones

Once I save these books, I'd had to replace certain ones right away. Books such as all the other HP's, Twilight Series, Across the Universe and A Millions Suns, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, Tell No One, and The Pact would be among the first to be added to my new collection! I couldn't live without any of these.

2. Fever by Lauren DeStefano (I haven't even finished it yet, but I imagine with the way it's been so far that I'd definitely recommend it)

That's all I could come up with because that's all of this genre that I have read! I really wish that someone would have recommended this genre to me ages ago, becuase these books are fantastic and there are SO many others that I have on my list to read!

1. Nightshade by Andrea Cremer - Gorgeous cover really! Much better than the new ones, if I do say so.

2. House of Night series by P.C and Kristin Cast - I had no idea what these books would be like but the covers are so pretty!

 

3. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer - once again, the cover is what made me read/buy/love these books

4. Fallen by Lauren Kate - my boyfriend actually picked this book out for me once because he knew I'd love the cover.

5. Wither by Lauren DeStefano - Gorgeous!

6. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer - even before I knew the synopsis, I wanted to get my hands on this pretty little thing.

7. Across The Universe by Beth Revis - such an eye catching book!

8. Gin, Tonic and Cucumber by Rafaele Germain - I love the bright pink, fun cover! And the story was just as fun! And the title is awesome

9. The Vampire Diaries - I bought some of these books based solely on the fact that TVD tv show is based on these books, and I wanted to know if TV Damon is comparable to book Damon.

10. The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong - the title and the cover art for this one is fantastic!

It's been so long since I've participated in a Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish so I thought it would be fun to give it a go!

This week - Top Ten sequels I'm Dying to Read:

(in no particular order...)

1. Insurgent (Divergent #2) By Veronica Roth - Because I just finished Divergent and it was freaking fantastic!!

 

2. The Golden Lily (Bloodlines #2) by Richelle Mead - I loved Bloodlines, and was introduced to the lovely Vampire Academy world from it and because of that, I'm excited for this one.

3. A Million Suns (Across the Universe #2) by Beth Revis - You all know I loved AtU! So obviously, I need to read this.

4. Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices #2) by Cassandra Clare - Will and Jem? YES PLEASE!!







5. Fever (The Chemical Garden #2) by Lauren DeStefano - Wither was such a great read, and I'm eager to find out what happens next.

6. Mara Dyer # 2 - The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer was one of my fave reads, can't wait for the second in the series.







7. The Calling (Darkness Rising #2) by Kelley Armstrong - I want to know more about the paw shaped birthmark!








8. The Soul (The Host #2) by Stephenie Meyer - IF this book happens, I'm interested to see what happens in it. I LOVED The Host and Ian and Wanderer!

9. City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments #5) by Cassandra Clare - Such an interesting series, and I'm ready for some more!

10. Passion (Fallen #3) by Lauren Kate - I've had this book for some time now, and really want to get around to it soon! The covers are the best part of these books, but I'm eager to see what happens between Luce and Daniel.

Bookish Pet Peeves - Stickers on Books...

Yesterday was Top Ten Tuesday,(unfortunately I didn't get to do my post - oh well!) and this weeks discussion was "Top 10 Bookish Pet Peeves". I saw some interesting pet peeves, among them were things like:

• dog earing pages - I personally don't like doing this, only because I find it tough to quickly find the right page, so I'll use book marks, or take note of the pages I want to remember
• bent spines - well this is how we know the book has been read and loved
• books without covers or pages missing - this does bother me, there is no need to have a book without a cover, and how are we supposed to enjoy the book as a whole with pages gone?

But there was one that stood out to me:

Stickers on books!

Thankfully, where I buy a lot of my books - !ngido Chapters - they use these really cool stickers that stick but are super easy to come off. Therefore there is no gross, sticky-icky residue left of the pretty books. But there are some book companies that use the stickers that are nearly impossible to come off. I had one book that I tried to peel the sticker off - it was terrible!

After that disaster, I found a solution. It's as simple as a hairdryer! Just blowdry the stickers / tape right off those babies. This works each and every time. Give it a try next time, and you'll see how easy it is. Just don't let your book go up in flames. (Low heat setting, don't aim the dryer too long, etc)

There you have it - a pet peeve and a solution!

Top Ten Tuesday - My Top 10 Books I Resolve To Read In 2011

We all have those books that we'd love to read, but never get around to them for some reason or another. So these 10 books are ones that I am resolving to read this year! (Again, in no particular order!)

1. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak - I've heard really really good reviews of this book, and would love to read it for myself

2. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick - Since I first saw this book, I've wanted to read it. I have a copy (and gave away a copy on my blog) but have yet to pick it up. I will this year though!

3. Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë - I haven't read many classics, but would love to start, and I think this one is the best one to start with

4. Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson - Ever since The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo came out, I've been wanting to read it, and why not read the trilogy this year, right? Maybe this will be a book club pick :)

5. The Alchemist by Paulo Chelho - This has been on my wish-list and to be read list for ages (before I was blogging and reviewing.)

6. Dracula by Bram Stoker - I own this book, but haven't read it yet. I want to - soon. I want to be scared and see how the 'original' vampires are.

7. The Distant Hours by Kate Morton - I recieved an ARC of this book, and tried to read it. But for whatever reason, I could not get into it. But reading reviews and such, I feel like I am missing out so much, so I plan to read it (or try again at least)

8. The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins - No need to explain why I want to read this really. (I do own the first of the series)

9. Handle With Care by Jodi Picoult- Picoult is my favourite author, but I haven't read all of her books yet. This one I've heard is fabulous!

10. Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult - Again, this is supposed to be one of her best books, I need to see for myself.

Top Ten Tuesday - Top 10 Most Unfortunate Character Names

Top Ten Credit Goes to The Broke and the Bookish

*I'm just going to say that for the record I think the names in books mean a lot, and where some of these names are odd, and strange, it's nice to have a change from just your normal, common names. These are just some of the oddest, strangest ones I've come across*

So here they are, my top 10 'strangest' character names:

1. Ponyboy Curtis from The Outsiders - This is my favourite book of all times, and I absolutely adore Ponyboy, but his name just makes me giggle!

2. Sodapop Curtis from The Outsiders - Of course we couldn't have PonyBoy here without Sodapop!

3. Two-Bit Matthews from The Outsiders - Another strange name from my favourite book!

4. Stevie-Rae Johnson from The House of Night Series - This name isn't that it's strange, its just very southern and twangy. Or "Okie" as they call it in the books.

5. Luce from Fallen - I was reading it as 'Lucy' for the most part of the novel. I thought L-U-C-E was just a different way to spell it. Then I saw a video of Lauren Kate reading from her novel calling her Luce (loose - like a loose tooth)  

6. Embry Call from New Moon - I liked Embry the character, but the name had me thinking of an embryo - which I didn't care to think of while reading this book.

7. Mundungus Fletcher from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - Mundungus - really?! Need I explain this one?

8. Mafaldo Hooch from Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone - Sure, I get it, they are witches and wizards, but must we call her Madame Hooch?

9. Infinite Darlene (born Daryl Heisenberg) from Boy Meets Boy - I don't even get this one. Infinite Darlene just sounds way over the top and out there. I guess it's a perfect fit for a drag queen!

10. Old Nick from Room - I think this had more to do with the actual events of the novel. Kidnapping and keeping hostage is creepy, and Old Nick is a creepy name, so it worked well in this case.
