My Review:

I am a huge fan of K.A Tucker, with One Tiny Breath series my all time fave. And I know you're going to hate me for saying this, but I was disappointed with He Will Be My Ruin, and I was hoping for Until It Fades to be my redemption read . And let me tell you this... it was!! I am back to raving about Mrs Tucker and her incredible talent as a writer and story weaver and picture painter. 

Heres my reasons:

Writer - creates such a unique novel which flows flawlessly and seamlessly. 

Story weaver - knocks the ball out of the park with these fantastic characters that are realistic and genuine. And a plot that can keep the reader engaged from beginning to end. 

And picture painter - detail in everything to help reader along and feeling as though you are there and part of the book.

Just incredible! 

Catherine is a small town girl with a history that is known to many (for all the wrong reasons ) and she wants something different. She wants to forget about her past, but her young daughter,and her paycheck to paycheck job make that almost impossible. Then Brett comes along and things start to change and maybe he is what she needed to move on all along.

I really liked how likeable both these main characters are. Catherine is a hard working young single mom just trying to do her best and the love she has for her daughter is clear. Brett is a down to earth guy with a connection to Canada (and being a Canadian too, I loved the Canadian thrown in here and there!) And the relationship they build is a great one. It's fun, flirty and playful.  I read a lot of their interactions with a smile on my face.

It didn't stop there with great characters though. Keith, Catherine's friend is a great guy too. He's been there since the beginning and Catherine could not imagine a life in which he wasn't a part of. Another memorable character is Lou.  She stood up and helped Catherine when she needed it most and she's a smart, kind helping hand. And her no BS attitude is awesome. These characters plus more make for such a dynamic novel.

There's something romantic and sexy about Until it Fades. You'll get that giddy feeling when reading the book and when an author can make you feel, honest to goodness feel, during a novel, you know it's a good one.  KA tucker has done it again, and I can't thank her enough for writing some of the best books I've had the pleasure of reading.

My Review:

Crash Into You follows the lives of Isaiah (whom you'll remember from McGarrys previous books) and Rachel, both young teenagers with troubling lives but for very different reasons. Rachel is from a rich family. Rich with money, and a big house and cars. Isaiah is from the foster system, moving from houses to the streets where he now lives with his best friend Noah. The two characters meet one night, doing something they can both relate to - drag racing and hanging around cars. And from the first time they meet, they are not only forced together due to a bet, but they are drawn to each other on a deeper level. 

The relationship that is formed between Isaiah and Rachel is intriguing. They both know how different they are and they both have secrets but yet they can't stay apart. Their building relationship is true and meaningful even with Isaiah's tough exterior and his lack of trust to most people, and with Rachels "angelic" like ways, her inexperience and her lack of street smarts. I really liked that we got to dig deeper into Isaiah and see why he's the way he is, and doing so will make you see that he isn't as tough as he appears. He feels the need to put on this facade because of the system he was brought up in.  So to see that Rachel can break through this and bring out the real Isaiah is great. He's got a sweet personality and a big heart. We not only get to see more into Isaiah, but some of our other favorite characters like Noah and Echo play a role in Crash Into You and Beth is introduced to Rachel, which brings in a little drama but not too much. 

A true form to McGarrys other books, the emotion and strength behind the characters is unbelievable. McGarry can make her characters come alive in the pages of her books. Her writing is raw and true and because of that, you'll feel everything from the book. You'll get butterflies in your stomach when Isaiah looks at Rachel. You'll feel the shyness and newness of everything that Rachel feels and it's incredible. And just wait until things get really romantic! 

Crash Into You is a book where unlikely friendships and relationships are built and it's a story that proves that you can't judge a book by its cover, because you might just miss out on something or someone special.  I would recommend getting this book tomorrow if you haven't already read it. It's definitely worth every late night spent up.

My Review:

True was my first Erin McCarthy book, and I was impressed. It was a really great read. I truly enjoyed reading it. Rory is a character you can relate to in certain ways and it was refreshing to read. Her point of view is clear and makes for easy understanding of who she is. She doesn't mess around, she's straight to the point and honest, though why all of a sudden she is so eager to loose her virginity is still a bit of a mystery to me. Is it so she doesn't feel left out? So she can fit in? She's so independent, she doesn't need to do this and that was the one small detail that bothered me in True. It's not until you see that maybe Rory is really ready to step into that new experience that she hasn't bothered to explore yet. She has been kind of a quiet nerd her whole life so far, one who studies and doesn't go out a whole lot.
Tyler is a likable character from the start. We see genuine care towards Rory, even though there's that little secret between him and Rory's roommates. I really liked watching their relationship grow. It was like watching a movie with the best actors/actresses. The picture was clear from start to finish, the characters, the storyline and McCarthy's writing all played a role in that. 
Tyler has 3 brothers, 2 younger and 1 older. While Tyler was with his brothers, it was so honest and pure. It really shaped his character and made him that much more likable. The interactions between Tyler's brothers and their mother was heart breaking, seeing as they were called names, treated terribly and so afraid of her behavior because of drugs. The connection that Rory felt with his brothers and vice-versa made things so much better. It will lift the readers heart to see Tyler, his brothers and Rory form a friendship that will persevere though everything.  
There is quite a bit of sexual content in True, but it's not a YA book, so it's OK. The sex scenes were never too much. I never felt uncomfortable while reading them. There was just enough detail to feel the raw emotions of Rory and Tyler. Through this, we got a better understanding of the importance of sex that Rory felt, and what it means to Rory.
Erin McCarthy is a great writer. Her details, characterization and the plot line were so seamlessly crafted into this truly extraordinary read. You'll want to pick this up whether you're a fan of McCarthy or not; you will be after True.
