My Review:

This was the first book by Collen Hoover that I've read and it definitely will not be the last! I seriously could not get enough of it! I went into this knowing nothing about this book. I didn't read the book blurb and to be honest, I'm glad I didn't because I feel like there are huge spoilers there and I liked not knowing. 

Morgan and Clara - mother and daughter - are two if the main characters in this book, and we switch between their point of views which I really liked. I liked seeing the perspective of a predictable, comfortable mother, and her teenage daughter, and I think Colleen Hoover nailed it! (Being the mother of a teenage daughter myself, I probably enjoyed this more than some others) I loved seeing their relationship change throughout Regretting You. The two of them go through so much, and instead of leaning on each other, they find support in the ways of a and old friend and a new friend. And watching each of these relationships unfold was exciting and intoxicating at times. 

This is definitely a book review that I want to keep simple and without any spoilers, but I also want to get across to you how amazing this book is! Colleen Hoover has a way with words for sure. Regretting You was raw, intense, funny, sad, you name it, at some point, you will probably feel it. Each character is written with so much...character. They unravelled throughout the pages until the very end.

My Review:

We pick up one week after Shadows. Gaby and Rafa have been through so much and trust me, it's not over yet! In book two, we are re-introduced to the kick-ass heroine, Gaby who had held her head up high through all of this. (Thinking her brother was dead, to being told he could still be alive. Living life like a regular girl to find out she's got a whole life behind her that she can't remember and that includes being Rephiam, and so on) Rafa, who opens up a little more in Haze and could kick your butt with his eyes closed and Maggie who was brought into all of this unknowingly and hasn't given up on her friendship yet. We meet new characters too, that you will only meet when you read Haze yourself!

While I thought book #2 was going to revolve around finding Jude, it isn't just that. There is so much more to it! Twisted in with this plot we obviously meet more important characters (in barns and cornfields), we meet fellow Rephaim, and dig a little more into the past. There is so much revealed and so many new things to look forward to in book #3. At times I found it a little overwhelming with everyone and everything but with a clear head I was able to regroup myself. When one thing was resolved, 2 more issues would be brought up. We're definitely going to need book three and four to wrap up the series.

The last few chapters, I swear I read while holding my breath! The fast-paced, intense, action packed scene with that cliffhanger at the end? Really?! It was just too much! Haze comes with an excerpt of Shimmer, book #3 and I don't usually read those excerpts because it's too much of a tease, but let me tell you, I may be diving into it before I know it just to satisfy that need to know.

Paula Weston has created this world and these characters that come to life on the pages. The world she created has everything a reader looks for - a thick plot, friendships, enemies, romance, though the romance isn't overdone, it's just enough to make your pulse quicken, and fighting! The fight scenes are so much fun! Paula has put so much thought into her writing that the scenes are vivid and the fun Aussie feel is great!

If you haven't read this series, you might want to! Even if you don't love angels and hellbeasts and hellions, you'll find something in Paula Weston's Rephaim's series that you will love!

That is awesome! Maggie is such a sweet and loyal friend. Her favourite ways to relax? Knitting, sewing and being crafty. While I may not knit or sew, I certainly would rather sit down and read. You know, nothing too extreme! Oh, and we share a favourite food - scallops. Yummy!

I was lucky enough to read and review an ARC of Fury, you can read my review here. Also, I was lucky enough to be part of this blog tour, and today you get to read my exculsive Q&A with the author, Elizabeth Miles.

Here we go:

Stellar Book Blog: What made you write about Furies? Have you always been fasinated with them, or is it just the direction your novel took?
Elizabeth Miles: The Furies are a lesser-known creature in Greek mythology—I hadn’t heard of them myself until I was in my twenties. I was immediately drawn to their vengeful and disproportionate sense ofjustice. I thought it would be a great foundation for a contemporary novel.

SBB: Do you know the outcome of the characters before you write them, or does it play out in your head as it's happening and as you're writing?
EM: I work off of a very detailed outline. Of course individual scenes and emotions develop organically, but I’m always conscious of where I am in the story and where I need to go.

SBB: Which is your favourite character in Fury and why?
EM: It’s hard to choose a favorite! It was fun to write Chase—I enjoyed exploring the male perspective. I certainly have some key things in common with Em. The Furies are deliciously bad and I love watching them do their thing. And some of the minor characters, like JD and Drea, are people who I would actually be friends with.

SBB: Since this is your debut novel not due to be released until August 30, now that it's circulating around reviewers and such, and people are reading it, what does it feel like? Is it what you were expecting? You must be so excited for Aug 30 to come!
EM: Thank you, I am super-excited for August 30th! I’m also: overwhelmed, nervous, proud, insecure, gleeful…am I doing a good enough job demonstrating that I’m dealing with a lot of conflicting emotions? I poured a lot of energy into Fury and I’m happy with the result. No matter what happens, that will remain true.

SBB: Fury isn't over yet, what can we come to expect in this trilogy in the upcoming books?
EM: It sure isn’t…Fury is the first book in a trilogy. The next book, which I’m revising right now, is called Envy, and it will follow some old characters and some new ones through increasingly terrifying ordeals with the Furies. We’ll find out more about where the Furies came from, and more about how the Ascension teens will choose to banish these beautiful persecutors.

From Ash to Nash

I've recently had the chance to read The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab, and let me tell you that I loved it! (You can check out my review here) As soon as I read it and posted my review, I wanted to find out more about Victoria - not in the stalker kind of way - just some friendly knowledge is what I wanted.
